In October 2019 Carolina Monroy Rosso founded a movement named “Unidad Para Bolivia”, who’s fundamental objective is to work towards improving Bolivia, by supporting its quest towards socioeconomic development, progress in all realms, and the defense of Bolivia’s democracy.

The initiation of “Unidad Parea Bolivia” arose due to the electoral fraud in October 2019, and the primary objective of aiding in Bolivia’s defense of its democracy. Due to these circumstances, the founder who was very involved in the Bolivian protests in Miami - where she resided and studied at the time of the events - began to disseminate the truth of Bolivia’s situation, the veracity of the pro-democracy uprise led by the civilian population in Bolivia, and the crimes against humanity committed in many instances by the fraudulent party. Moving independently and seeing the necessity for the maximization of her efforts, she created Unidad Para Bolivia’s webpage, making it a platform to find news, facts, and the realities that the Bolivian people were living, post the electoral fraud.

Soon, UPB’s initial mission became clearly defined, and Bolivians from 48 countries around the world started using and contributing to the platform. On the website, Carolina posted informative emails and articles in various languages, which she had been drafting and sending to the press, news channels, congress people, and human rights organizations around the world. These consisted of information, pictures and videos that came from the front lines of civil resistance in Bolivia, defending the democracy and their vote. This information was placed at the disposition of anyone who wished to use it to continue disseminating the truth about Bolivia’s situation. The members and contributors representing and covering 48 countries around the world, started posting their emails and announcements as well, making UPB’s reach larger, more significant, and further impactful.

After participating and speaking at the demonstrations held by Bolivians in Miami, as well as being called for a series of interviews on news channels and radios in the US and in Bolivia, Carolina realized that UPB’s mission could not end there. This movement, to unite Bolivians in the country and abroad, should continue and expand into the future, always working to bring support to the country, on a wide spectrum of necessities.

Consequently, when the Covid-19 pandemic reached Bolivia and a total quarantine was imposed, UPB’s founder saw the immense necessity of aid a large sector of the population would need in order to survive. Due to this, she began to work in order to provide support to this portion of the population in any way she could. UPB today has revived the movement and launched their second project - humanitarian aid to those most in need during the pandemic.

This humanitarian aid project has an imperative focus on the families and communities that haven't received aid from the government nor from other organizations. UPB is currently fundraising from all of its contacts home and abroad, and the team who represented the 48 countries in the initial project in 2019, have also been sharing UPB’s current mission - as we work to cover some of Bolivia’s need during these turbulent times.

The humanitarian aid project is focused on Santa Cruz in this initial phase, yet UPB and its increasing team, are determined to expand the operations nationwide promptly.

Our motto defines us.

United for a better Bolivia.

Por una Bolivia unida, por una Bolivia mejor.

Thank you,

Carolina Monroy Rosso

Founder of Unidad Para Bolivia
